…and I’m a current 4th year History of Art student at the University of Edinburgh with aspirations to work in collections care and archiving. Currently, I am the Archivist for the Edinburgh Gallery Society, a Content Creator for the Contemporary Art Society at my university, and a Gallery Intern at JD Malat Gallery in London.

the core of who I am. . .

  • I am a current 4th year History of Art student with concentrations in contemporary art, abstract art, and Chinese ink painting.

    My dissertation is projected to cover Chinese contemporary art and its related markets.

  • Working chronologically, I initially volunteered with two arts non-profits, Art27 Scotland and Stills: Centre for Photography.

    Since then I have conducted three publicity and social media roles for societies at my university, these being: the Edinburgh Gallery Society, Contemporary Art Society, and ABACUS (Association of British and Chinese University Students).

    Outside of just publicity, in my role at the Edinburgh Gallery Society I also curated, installed, and designed promotional materials for three exhibitions across my term in the committee.

    This past academic year, I was the first student to chair a seminar as part of the University of Edinburgh’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences History of Art Research Seminars series, where I nominated, liaised with, arranged for, and hosted the internationally known documentary filmmaker and translator Linda Hoaglund.

    Most recently, I have completed a termed work placement with Ingleby Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland in the capacity of a Gallery Assistant shadowing the Registrar and undergoing archival and inventory tasks such as: re-organising the library database, conducting an inventory condition check across all works in storage, and managing artwork images and artist records.

    Currently, I am a Gallery Intern at JD Malat Gallery in London, primarily focusing on writing promotional materials, database management, and registration duties.

    In the next year, I will serve as the Archivist for the Edinburgh Gallery Society and lead the groups publications, online presence, graphic design, and database management.

  • Yes, I still assist in social media management in a number of avenues, those being:

    • creating content for social media and newsletters

    • caption writing and writing press releases

    • complete re-branding for organisations, including logo design, typography, and aesthetic direction

    I also take up graphic design and video editing projects on request, such as:

    • poster and flyer design

    • publication formatting

    • videos projects (interviews, promotional material, editing event footage, and more)

  • After graduation, I am to join the commercial art sector in collections care as an archivist, registrar, or in operations.
